Steps to inserting an image

It is simplest to insert a figure into a page using the visual editor ("Edit" tab on upper right of page) by,

  1. The author must first have the figure saved locally as either a .png, .jpg, or .gif.
  2. Enter the visual editor by clicking on the "Edit" tab in the upper right of the page.
  3. Set the cursor at the place in the page where the image is to be inserted.
  4. Using the dropdown at the top of the editor's page select Insert->Images and media.
  5. In the dialog box that pops up select the Upload tab and click on the Select a file button.
  6. Follow the instructions to navigate to the image.
  7. Check the "This is my own work" box. Click on Upload.
  8. You will then be given a dialog to enter the image's caption and control other features such as image alignment in the page and its size.
